I'm hugely proud of 'yours sincerely.' It will be released track by track across the first half of 2026.

The Inspiration Behind the Lyrics

Every song has a story, and our latest album is no exception. Of course, its super selfish. All about me! Most of the lyrics draw from my own life journey, capturing moments of love, frustration, and longing. Vid is great at making the lyrics wider and wiser than my world. Music has an incredible power to evoke emotions, tell stories, and connect people . Our music seems to be a testament to this, featuring lyrics that seem to resonate deeply with listeners. I love songs all the more if I understand them, so I'm going to try and dive into the inspirations and the stories behind each song.

A Close Look at Selected Songs

Let’s take a closer look at the tracks from the album, highlighting their lyrics and the stories behind them.

1            Wet Grass

I have someone in my life now who is pretty special, but that doesn't mean we don't argue. He gets sexually frustrated (I want to wait till i'm married. i know its weird these days and i'm not super religious or anything, but sex has been super devalued, which i think is sad.) I get emotionally frustrated cos often he struggles to understand what is important to me (who can blame him, I'm pretty odd) So this is a song about how much you can love someone, but still occasionally want to murder them.

2            Afraid

I've made some shit relationship choices, fallen in love with the wrong men and been damaged by that. Its sad cos the next boy has to deal with the fear and nervousness that grow as a result. I learnt that "Love is a fire" and got frightened about being burnt.

3            My legs

Its so hard to chose a path in life, when you are still almost a child. I think I'm happy with my choices, but its sort of imposible isn't. Sylvia Plath said its trying to decide a route ahead when you are in a valley and cant see over the hills. You never really know what's coming next in your life.

4            Simple Song

I guess this is about persisting in seeking love despite it failing and hurting in the past.

5            Hind and Roe (Proverbs 5:19)

I'm not sure i believe in god, i struggle with that, but i like reading the bible sometimes (told you i was odd) I found this in Proverbs

Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times, and be thou ravished always with her love - Proverbs 5:19

So the song sprang out of that.

6            Ranklin Inlet

We had to record this twice, cos I thought 'Franklin inlet' sounded better and sang that as the lyric. Then Vid told me it was a real place and i couldn't change its name! Its a bittersweet song about wanting to run away from heartache. It sounds like a cool place to run to though. I love the line

I'll learn to say 'Asheqqanngituq' some day

Asheqqanngituq is one way of saying I love you in some Inuit languages.

First single - 8th January!

7            How Good it is

This song is about unconditional love and how good it is to respond to negativity and hostility not with retaliation, but by nurturing kindness and hope; The power of love to overcome hatred, to love and serve others—even those who are unkind. It highlights the joy found in sowing peace and love, hippie friends :) I do believe its true!

8            Casualty

Had to sing my head off for this one and i'm madly proud of it. About how failing to be the perfect partner you'd like to be can keep you awake worrying -

"....a crying casualty of love's cruel war.".

9            Mystery

K took me to Paris and was massively sweet to me and i decided I could not understand why he seems to love me - it honestly is a mystery. I'm rubbish at French so sorry about the accent.

10          The Campbells

My present 'in-laws' are really nice. I have though suffered a few hours feeling very unwelcome and uncomfortable in boyfriend's houses. This is a fun exaggeration of that. To understand the reference to Campbells - MacDonalds you have to know some Scottish history and especially the Massacre of Glencoe, but its still fun if you don't.

11          Not a God

Had great fun with this - Vid was in an especially creative mood and we played a lot. Vid says its C-pop, i.e. Celtic K-pop Its about how some people (i bet you know one - often someone you would like to be cool in front of when you speak to them) just make you inexplicably dumb and blush madly. Brief references to the inspiring Olivia Rodrigo, to Carly Simon and Bruce Springsteen.

12          Hares on the Mountain (live)

Traditional English song with a reworked melody. Dozens of traditional versions of the song have been recorded all over the world, with a whole host of other titles, including "Blackbirds and Thrushes", "If All the Young Women", "Nancy Lay Sleeping", "The Knife in the Window" and "Sally My Dear" among others. The song imagines what would happen if young maidens (or in my case young men) were transformed into various creatures or plants, and describes the response of the opposite gender. Its a banger! Recorded in front of a brilliantly exuberante Irish audience.

Thank you for joining me on my journey. I can’t wait for you to hear all of this album. I'd love it if you were to share your thoughts with us too. Wet Grass's lyrics suggested the album's title

"most sincerely, I do love him dearly".

And, of course, the album is from me to you,

yours sincerely, ida
